Our roots
A proud history beginning in 1967.
Risidale Primary School was built on land previously used as a vegetable farm by the Risi brothers. The first school consisted of a small area of mown grass and several prefabricated buildings set in the veld.
A traditional school handbell gathered the first learners on the grass, where Mr Laburn, the Inspector of Education at the time, welcomed them.
Our symbols
The heron and the four school houses
Miss Jane Fraser, Risidale Primary School’s first principal, loved birds. This inspired the heron on the school badge and the bird names used for the school’s internal sport and cultural houses.
